The outdoor opera "Princess Wencheng" has become a must-see live show in Lhasa, capital city of China's Xizang Autonomous Region, attracting tens of thousands of visitors every year. On the background of Lhasa's spectacular landscape, local performers dressed in traditional costumes – featuring Tang Dynasty and Tibetan-style elements – performed this classic story with innovative details such as music, dance and modern technology, offering a fascinating audio and visual feast.
During the Tang Dynasty (618-907), Princess Wencheng came to the Tubo Kingdom in today's Xizang, to build a friendly tie between ethnic groups. She also taught the skills of farming, spinning, as well as pharmacy and medical knowledge to the Tibetan locals, promoting cultural exchange and development and strengthening solidarity and friendship between people.
